Walnut
Our charming two bedroomed gîte Walnut, sits next to its sister gîte Truffle and has far reaching views across the pool, valley and the hamlet of Le Peyruzel dominated by the 13c Château Peyruzel. It is a delightful stone property that was once a cattle byre. We love Walnut and it is furnished with many of our own family items of furniture, pictures and soft furnishings.
Living Space
The gîte itself is filled with character, with a cool tiled floor downstairs and honey coloured stone walls. Just a little step down from the kitchen dining area and you’re into the cosy sitting room with windows and views from all three sides. Here you will find a comfy sofa, armchairs and a small bureau if needed. You have French and English TV plus a DVD player.
The handmade wooden kitchen still retains the original cattle manger which is now formed into part of the kitchen space. You will find plenty of storage, a full size fridge freezer, a gas hob with an electric fan oven and a dishwasher. We like to supply you with all the equipment we think you’ll need to enjoy your time here whether you’re having a bar-b-que or baking a cake. The dining area is within the kitchen and has large double glass doors that open out onto your terrace letting the fresh air and the light in.
Upstairs
Upstairs you will find two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom is a genuinely lovely high ceilinged room with a king size bed, plenty of storage and hanging space. It is a double aspect room and is wonderfully light with views overlooking the pool and the valley below on one side and countryside views from the other. There is enough space to add a travel cot or folding bed for a toddler if required. (please request in advance) All bed and cot linen is included.
The second bedroom also with high ceilings has a full-size bunk bed and plenty of storage. It overlooks the courtyard and pool terrace.
The bathroom is fitted with a spacious corner shower with rain head and handheld fittings. We provide you with all the bath towels, mats and pool towels that you’ll need.
Outside
Outside you have a small covered porch, perfect for your morning coffee with steps up onto a raised terrace. With a large wooden dining table and chairs a big parasol and your bar-b-que. The best views of the entire property are to be had from here with long rolling views of the Ceou Valley and Le Peyruzel. You can enjoy morning, afternoon and evening sun and then watch the spectacular sunsets from your private terrace. The heated swimming pool sits just beyond Walnut's own terrace with a private gate leading into it.
The Pool
The pool sits in a spectacular position with lovely views across to the hamlet and Château of Le Peyruzel. It is 9 x 5 meters and has a consistent depth of 1.5 metres. The terrace has a sunny aspect and plenty of sun loungers and is fully secure to protect children. The pool is heated to around 26 degrees, this will often increase in the high season. The pool opens in April and is usually at temperature around May through to the end of the season. The pool is fitted with an electric security cover meeting all safety standards and for extra security (especially for those with very young children) it is fully enclosed with child safety gates.
Guest access
All our guests have a private space to park close to their gîte for one car. The gravel courtyard is open to all, you and one other possible set of guests plus the owner. The laundry room sits in the courtyard with a sink, washing machines, dryers and ironing facilities also a microwave.
