Truffle
Truffle is the other half of our gîte Walnut and would once have been part of one the original old farm building, whilst the cattle would have lived next door in Walnut. There is lots of exposed stone and a wealth of beams so it is oozing with character. Both gîtes are totally independent of each other with their own entrance and terrace area on separate sides of the property.
Living Space
Downstairs the layout is open plan with the staircase going up through the middle. On one side is a lovely spacious handmade wooden kitchen. You will find plenty of storage, a full size fridge freezer, a gas hob with an electric fan oven and a dishwasher. We like to supply you with all the equipment we think you’ll need to enjoy your time here and ensure that it feels like a home from home.
The sitting and dining area has windows to one side and a french door opening onto your private terrace and garden area. You have a comfy sofa and armchairs and for those in the very early season a wood-burning stove will keep you warm in the cooler evenings. Your TV offers both French and English channels and a DVD player.
Upstairs
Upstairs you will find a pretty master bedroom with high ceilings and a standard double bed. A french window that opens out onto a Juliette balcony letting the early morning sunshine flood in. All bed and cot linen is included.
The twin room has a full size single bed and a custom made staircase/ladder up to the platform bed, always popular with the children. We'll leave it up to you to work out who goes where! Just outside this room on the landing area, there is also an extra full size single wooden truckle bed.
The bathroom is fitted with a spacious walk-in shower with rain head and handheld fittings. We provide you with all the bath towels, mats and pool towels that you’ll need.
Outside
Truffle's terrace enjoys a sunny aspect until the afternoon and then benefits from some shade. From the terrace you can also go through the jasmine covered archway into a small grassed private garden area. Here you will find sun and shade and be able to sit and overlook the countryside views across the valley.
Truffle is particularly well suited to families with toddler aged young children as downstairs is all on one level with only a tiny step from the kitchen to the living area. It is also fitted with a child gate at the top of the stairs. An extra gate can be provided for the bottom of the stairs if required.
The terrace has a lovely big wooden table and parasol and a bar-b-que.
The Pool
The pool sits in a spectacular position with lovely views across to the hamlet and Château of Le Peyruzel. It is 9 x 5 meters and has a consistent depth of 1.5 metres. The terrace has a sunny aspect and plenty of sun loungers and is fully secure to protect children. The pool is heated to around 26 degrees, this will often increase in the high season. The pool opens in April and is usually at temperature around May through to the end of the season. The pool is fitted with an electric security cover meeting all safety standards and for extra security (especially for those with very young children) it is fully enclosed with child safety gates.
Guest access
All our guests have a private space to park close to their gîte for one car. The gravel courtyard is open to all, you and one other possible set of guests plus the owner. The laundry room sits in the courtyard with a sink, washing machines, dryers and ironing facilities also a microwave.
