Holiday cottages in the Dordogne, France
Walnut and Truffle Cottages, known as gîtes in France sit nestled on the slopes of an old hillside hamlet called Le Peyruzel. Standing proud at the highest point of the hamlet and in clear view of our property is the 13c historic monument of Château Peyruzel. The gîtes are over 200 hundred years old and once formed part of a cluster of farm buildings. They have been lovingly restored from dereliction.
The real stand out addition to the property though is the pool. It sits in an amazing position looking across towards Le Peyruzel and it’s château and down towards the Ceou valley below. In the summer months the pool will enjoy sunshine from morning till sunset and one of the nicest places to sit is on the pool terrace watching the sun go down after a hard day’s sightseeing or just relaxing.

Our Region
Walnut and Truffle sit within the centre of the Perigord Noir region, known as the Golden Triangle. At the heart of this area is its capital the beautiful medieval city of Sarlat, just 15 minutes north of here. I can guarantee you won’t have a problem finding things to do and see in this incredible area. We have the two valleys for you to explore, we are at the cusp of the where Ceou river and the Dordogne river meet, with its château, stunning villages and gardens to visit. Then then have the Vézère valley with its prehistoric origins where early man once lived. You can explore its caves, grottes, museums and wildlife parks.
Then we have the river Dordogne, one of the cleanest in Europe, swim, hire a canoe for the day or take a trip in a Gabare. Of course if you’re a foodie you’re in for a real treat too. The region known for its specialities, duck, foie gras, truffles, walnuts, goats cheese, strawberries and of course wine.
